Hostage Liri Albag appears in Hamas video after 450 days in captivity

Hostage Liri Albag appears in Hamas video after 450 days in captivity

Hamas published a propaganda video on Saturday revealing a sign of life of hostage Liri Albag.

Albag, 19, one of the female IDF observers taken hostage on October 7, 2023, was kidnapped by terrorists from Nahal Oz. In the video, she states that she’s been held captive in the Gaza Strip for 450 days.

Hostage videos released by Hamas are part of the terror organization’s ongoing engagement in psychological warfare.

“I’m only 19 years old. I have my entire life in front of me, but now my entire life has been put on pause,” Albag said in the video.

“We’re starting a really dark year here,” she continued in tears. “The world is starting to forget about us. No one cares about us. We’re living in a nightmare.”

Propaganda video includes placing sole responsibility on the government

In the Hamas video, Albag then directs her words toward the Israeli government, asking, “If there was someone from your family here, would they still be here today?”

“This is not normal, what you’re making us go through here,” she continued. “Do you know what it’s like being in a place constantly under bombardment without a shelter?

“I just want people to remember me, remember my name,” she concluded in the video. “All of this is because of the government and the army.”

Hostages Families Forum responds

The family of Liri Albag has asked that neither the Hamas footage, nor any frames thereof, be published.

“The family requests privacy and asks not to be contacted at this time,” the Hostages Families Forum stated.

“The sign of life from Liri is harsh and undeniable proof of the urgency in bringing all the hostages home!
Every day in Hamas’s hell in Gaza poses an immediate risk of death to the living hostages and endangers the ability to recover the fallen for proper burial,” the Hostages Families Forum said in a later statement. “Sixteen days remain until the ultimatum set by President-elect Trump. We must not lose this historic window of opportunity!
It is time for our Prime Minister and other world leaders to take courageous action and bring Liri and all the hostages home.”

The Forum continued, calling on people around the world to participate in rallies and protest vigils on Saturday evening  in support of the hostages.
